PRP Therapy – Vampire Facelift

PRP Vampire Facelift

The "Vampire Facelift" is the popular name for the PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) treatment, a procedure that utilizes the patient's own platelet-rich blood plasma. Although the name is relatively new, the method has been used in medicine for many years as an effective therapeutic treatment for a variety of demanding conditions and disorders. According to medical literature, PRP is the portion of blood containing activated platelets suspended in plasma.

The Remarkable Power of Platelets

The average platelet count in human blood is approximately 200 × 109/L. By centrifuging the patient's blood, followed by concentrating the platelet-rich plasma, the platelet concentration is increased four to seven times. As a result, approximately 1.7 million platelets are obtained in a single microliter of plasma. During centrifugation, the platelets become activated. Instead of their normal disc-like appearance, they develop projections and release growth factors from their alpha granules. The concentration of these growth factors increases by 420% to 780% compared to their normal levels in circulating blood. Using the PRP method, these highly concentrated growth factors are delivered directly into the skin, where they stimulate natural rejuvenation processes. Such high concentrations cannot be achieved through normal blood circulation alone. Growth factors play a crucial role in maintaining tissue homeostasis by signaling local mesenchymal and epithelial cells to migrate, divide, and increase the production of collagen and extracellular matrix. In addition to aesthetic applications, platelet-rich plasma has also proven highly successful in the treatment of chronic wounds.

Wide Applications in Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery

  • Facial, neck, décolletage, hands, upper arms, knees, inner thighs, and abdominal skin rejuvenation
  • Treatment of acne scars
  • Hair growth stimulation
  • Natural filler for lips and wrinkles
  • Treatment of degenerative joint diseases
  • Treatment of chronic wounds

PRP therapy is a comfortable and minimally invasive procedure. Approximately 70 cm³ of the patient's own blood provides enough platelet-rich plasma to rejuvenate the face, neck, or another treatment area. Since the preparation is fresh and contains no additives or preservatives, it provides excellent stimulation of collagen production and promotes the formation of new blood vessels in the skin. As a result, the skin receives more oxygen, nutrients, and improved hydration. Increased collagen production improves skin structure, making it smoother, firmer, more elastic, and visibly younger while reducing the appearance of wrinkles. In other words, the regenerative potential naturally carried by platelets becomes available to the skin in significantly higher concentrations.

Visible Results in a Short Time

PRP is administered using extremely fine needles, and the procedure takes only a few minutes. The first improvements are usually visible within approximately two weeks. A second treatment is generally recommended one month after the first, followed by additional sessions after three months, six months, and one year. PRP is also successfully combined with stem cell therapy as a natural filler. It is commonly used for rejuvenating the face, neck, décolletage, hands, upper arms, knees, inner thighs, and abdomen. The treatment is also recommended for individuals experiencing hair loss, as injecting PRP into the scalp significantly improves hair growth and density. The procedure is ideal for individuals with loose skin and both fine and deep wrinkles. In older patients, PRP can help delay the need for a surgical facelift, while in younger patients it is highly effective for reducing acne scars. Mild redness and tiny injection marks are the only common temporary side effects, typically disappearing within three to five days. Excellent clinical results have also been achieved in the treatment of degenerative joint disorders affecting the knees, hips, feet, spine, shoulders, elbows, and wrists. Patients often experience reduced pain and a slowing of degenerative joint processes.

PRP treatment is not recommended for patients with certain skin diseases, allergies, active skin infections, blood disorders, systemic or metabolic diseases, malignant conditions, or those undergoing chemotherapy.
