Permanent fillers cause the occurrence of granulomas in the lips, i.e. lumps which give the lips an asymmetrical form. Sometimes those lumps are too small to be seen with the naked eye, but they cause an unpleasant feeling of having a foreign body in the lip tissue. This is the reason for having the biopolymer or silicone surgically removed. The advantage of classic surgical removal procedure over laser removal procedure lies in the fact that permanent filler is removed without damaging healthy tissue.
Performing the operation: The permanent filler is removed under local anesthesia, through a small incision on the inside of the lips, after which the wound is closed with fine sutures.
Post-operative recovery: In the first few days after the operation, it is not advisable to take hot food. The wound heals quickly, the sutures are dissolvable. The swelling lasts for 2-3 days. After the period of ten days, the incision is not visible and there is no scarring.
